Get in touch

Cardinal is made by a small team, and email reaches a person who works on the app:

vansquareddev@gmail.com

Two things that make a problem much faster to fix:

  • Your device and OS version, and whether you are on iOS or Android
  • The song it happened on, and how the chart got into Cardinal — pasted, iReal Pro, photographed, or typed

Common questions

Does Cardinal work without a signal?

Yes. Your charts are cached on the device, so a basement green room with no bars changes nothing. The one exception is a PDF someone has attached to a song — that needs a connection the first time you open it, after which it is available offline too.

My iReal Pro import came out wrong

Charts with multiple or nested repeat blocks are a known gap — roughly three songs in forty. First and second-time endings do import correctly. If a chart comes out wrong, the bars are editable, and it is worth sending us the irealb:// link so we can look at it.

A photographed chart has the wrong chords in it

Photo transcription reads the chords off the page you photographed. It is a best effort, not a verified transcription, and it will tell you which bars it could not make out — check those against the page in your hand before the gig. A transcription that fails does not count against your allowance. Angled photos, shadows and creased paper are the usual causes; a flatter, better-lit shot often fixes it.

Does Cardinal generate chords from a song title?

No, deliberately. Every chart comes from something you supplied — text you pasted, an iReal Pro link, a page you photographed, or bars you entered. We measured the alternative and it was wrong about four times in five, which is worse than useless on a bandstand.

I transposed a song and my bandmate's chart changed

That is intended. Transpose is the band’s decision, so it rewrites the shared chart and its key for everyone. If you only want to change what you read, set a capo instead — a capo is stored on your device alone, changes nothing anyone else sees, and does not change the sounding key.

How do I get my band in?

Create a band and invite the others by email. Everyone then opens the same arrangement — your cuts, your key, your ending. Bands are free on every tier.

Subscriptions and billing

Cardinal Pro is billed by the store you bought it through, not by us. That means cancellations, changes and refunds are handled in your App Store or Google Play account settings — we have no way to cancel or refund a store subscription on your behalf, however much we would like to.

  • iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions
  • Android: Play Store → profile → Payments and subscriptions

If you paid and the app still shows you as free, try Restore Purchases in Settings first. If that does not sort it, email us and say which store you bought through.

Your account and data

You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app. See Delete Your Account for what that removes and how long it takes.

What we store and why is set out in the Privacy Policy, and the terms you are using the app under are in the Terms of Use.

Copyright concerns

Cardinal stores charts its users bring in, and gives them no rights in that material. If you believe something stored in Cardinal infringes your copyright, email vansquareddev@gmail.com with enough detail to identify the work and the material, and we will investigate and remove infringing content where appropriate.
